| trend The current general direction of movement for prices or rates. The bars across the top of the 3-month and 1-year price graphs are trending bars (green for uptrends, red for downtrends). Generally, you want to go long on stocks whose charts show predominantly green bars and short (or avoid) stocks where red predominates. If there are no bars, no clear trend is present.
