  What is...?
buying power
The amount of cash and/or margin available in your brokerage account to purchase securities. Your buying power includes your cash as well as the amount of money that you can borrow from E*TRADE Securities based on the securities held in your account. Even if you have zero or negative cash, you may still be able to purchase additional securities if your buying power is positive. (If your buying power falls below zero, you will receive a margin call.)
