| cost basis For ESPP shares, the cost basis is the price at which your company purchased the shares. For incentive stock options (ISOs) it is the grant price. For nonqualified stock options (nonquals) it is the fair market value at the time of exercise. Cost basis is also sometimes referred to as tax basis or value basis. |
